Anyone else horrified by their baseline phone usage - mine was much higher than I thought it would be :/ Well, I suppose that’s why we’re here! We shall see how this goes…

I also have the sane question re resources. I use my phone for daily newspaper, audio books, podcasts, yoga and meditation. However, I also spend scarey amounts of time just mindlessly scrolling, looking for a 'hit' of something new and exciting. I'm hoping that this program will help me to stop that while at the same time retain the benefits of having a smart phone.

Can anyone point me to the 'class resources' that Catherine mentions at the end of the video (the screensavers or Lock Screen photos or whatever). I don't see class resources anywhere, but I don't really use substack for much, so I'm probably overlooking something simple.

I deleted social media apps but my "screen time" is ridiculous because audio books and podcasts count as "screen time". Still feel SO much better without the socials, but I wish my screen time numbers reflected it!

Hey Denise! So I have the same problem with screentime like that sometimes. In a lot of apps you can "whitelist" or "manage" apps so your screentime will only show the apps that have been selected. Depending on if you have an Android or Iphone but I have an android and have multiple apps that let me whitelist things like that and phone calls.

This is so brilliant and useful - I can't tell you how many times a day I end up on my phone for no good reason. Thank you for this challenge! x

Awesome. I forwarded this to family, from age 13 through 77!

I’m going to borrow a hair tie and give this a try. I’ll think of it as a leash of sorts, too. Regaining control of one’s mind is powerful and productive and ultimately healthy.

Hi Catherine. A question about the revised edition, if I may? I’m based in the UK and can only see the old edition on Amazon - ditto for Audible. Is the revised edition only available in the USA? I’d be really interested in the section about kids and phones especially!

Yes, unfortunately the edition in the UK is the old one (supposedly there will be a new one coming out later in the year). But here's a post with lots of info that can help: https://catherineprice.substack.com/p/kids-smartphones-and-social-media

So excited to get started on this. I just wrote my Dear Phone letter, and now I'm considering turning it into a blog post!

I love this. I found out that I pick it up because I am bored. This is a more complicated problem since I usually only have a couple minutes to fill.
