I think having a large, insulated dog house is a great idea! It keeps our furry friends warm in the winter and cool in the summer, which is super important for their health and comfort. Plus, it gives them their own cozy space where they can feel safe and secure. I've been thinking about getting one for my dog, especially since it's starting to get colder outside. It seems like a worthwhile investment to make sure our pets are happy and comfortable all year!

I suspect my Android phone is too old (version 9) as I can't find the Digital Wellbeing section and there is no app called that on my app store. So I can only guess how much time I spend on it and how often I pick it up... but in any case, it's too much and I am going to use the extra time to develop a yoga routine (via videos on my ipad, ironically enough)

Great idea re the yoga! In terms of your phone, I did a quick internet search for "Android 9 digital wellbeing" and this came up - I'm not sure if it's still relevant (bc it's like 5 years old), but I thought it was interesting that it says it won't show up in the app store or in your app library, and yet is mysteriously still there. . . .

Ha - I've been trying to start my day by practicing on my drum pad. Pretty sure that working on musical coordination does really good stuff for our brains -- every time I play the drums I feel like I've pushed off dementia for five years. . . .

Fun break-up letter idea! I felt dirty doing it on my phone (dictating it using ChatGPT).

The whole concept brings to mind my "keep it in your pants" challenge, where I limited myself to pulling my phone out of my pocket "only" 250 times all month and, before using my phone, had to log down what I was about to use it for.

Keep it in your pants! That just made me laugh. Thanks for sharing! (We may have to experiment with a version of that. . . . )

I would like to spend more time on sewing, finding 3-5 hours per week would make me happy.

How do I find how many times I pick up my phone on an iPhone? I hate how mush of my life is spent on my phone. I miss interacting with people in real life.

Go into Settings>Screen Time. It will take a minute to do its calculations, but then it should display your stats for that particular day. If you then tap on "show all activity" (I think that's what it says; the phrasing might be slightly different), then it should take you to another screen where, if you scroll down, you can find this info. There's also a chance that you haven't yet set up/enabled screen time. If that's the case, it will probably prompt you to do so if you go into settings>screen time, and that way you can track things going forward. Hope that helps!

I want to dive into nature journaling/sketching but it seems like such a big thing when I have no artistic skills

As a fellow person-who-would-like-to-sketch-but-has-no-idea-how, what's the minimum you could do here? Or what's something that does feel accessible as a starting off point? Like, could you carry a notebook and do the journaling part for five minutes a day, even if you're not sketching?

Yes! That feels definitely more doable than attempting to sketch a freaking tree. Thank you! 😀

I recommend keep it loose and small - I’ve drawn up 2” squares and sketched in those each day. The beautiful about organic items is no one knows exactly what they looked like. Start with capturing shapes - your brain will be telling you to draw the symbols we take on as children eg. lollipop trees but sit with it and you’ll notice more subtle shapes. All the best with starting out!

I want to stop spending so much time scrolling mindlessly on my phone in bed at night and on weekend mornings, and instead use the time to meditate, exercise and get more sleep.

i want to be able to be bored, to stop distracting myself from my life right now, as for how long, right now I'd be happy with just a few minutes, long enough to realise the feeling of discomfort and stay with it.
