Sorry to have missed this! The old version of the book can work, but to truly follow along I'd recommend the new version, since I made changes to the plan. With that said, yes, you will certainly get a lot out of the experience from following the old edition, too! (And fwiw, there is a free pdf of the new edition available in the paid subscriber group support chat)
Hi Catherine! Is the new copy of the book on the kobo website now or do I need to wait until Feb 3/4 to buy it? Just want to make sure I’m. It accidentally buying the old version!
Michael -- sorry for the delay! The new edition was officially released on Feb 4, so it should be available now. Just make sure you're ordering the edition that has the red notification bubble on the cover (that says revised and updated) and the Jon Haidt quote.
I happened on to a substack note from you and decided to become a paid subscriber and start the phone break up challenge. I was thinking I was going to receive your book as well. Is that correct? Thank you so much!
Dana, I'm so sorry I missed this. The deadline for the free book was Jan 31 (I took the references to it out of the posts so that new people wouldn't get confused). I don't have control over the books, so I can't extend it yself -- but fwiw , there is a link to a free pdf version of the book in the paid subscriber substack chat. I hope that helps!
Hi John! So, it's strange: I can see on the back end up of substack that you paid (I think last fall?). But you're listed as a free subscriber . . . so I don't know what's going on. I would recommend reaching out to support@substack.com -- they are usually pretty responsive (and unfortunately, I can't fix it on my end). I hope it gets resolved soon!
Yay!! Will the older version of the book work too?
My exact question.

I did go up to paid version on 1/28 so not sure what happened but not a huge deal. I will look for the pdf.
Ok thanks Catherine!

I contacted them. I found my receipt dated Jan 20th. Hopefully I will still get the book 😊Thanks
John, email me your address (and phone number) at hello@screenlifebalance.com and I'll have my publisher get you a book. I'm sorry about the hassle.
No worries. Just emailed it to you
