I'm a little surprised that you don't get an Apple Watch. Seems like it would fix most of the issues you are encountering (except Uber & photos), but retain most of the benefits of being phone free.
Either way, it is interesting to read about how not having a phone has impacted your life. Every time I try to get rid of mine, I find some function that I can't live without & resort to keeping the smart phone.
I actually did investigate this option - I went to the apple store and asked about it, but they told me that even the cellular enabled watches require you to have an iPhone to pair them with. You can leave the iPhone at home and just use the watch, but you still need an iPhone to set up/manage the watch. (A kid could just use an apple watch, but it has to be set up through their parents' account on an iPhone.) To me, it's a missed business opportunity - though with that said, I *used* to have an Apple Watch and ended up giving it up because I didn't like having messages and notifications coming through my wrist (it was very distracting).
Fair enough. You MAY (or may not) want to look into one if/when you decide to get another iPhone. You can change the notification settings so that only some (or none) of the apps alert you on your watch. Otherwise it stays silent.
Personally, I find that having messages, phone calls, Microsoft authenticator & some chat app my daughter's School uses come through, but everything else turned off, really gives me comfort that I won't miss anything important, but also removes all of the other alerts that cause me to grab my phone. Plus it's a lot harder to waste time on a watch. There just isn't that much fun stuff to do on it.
I accidentally left my phone at home when I went to work. I managed to get halfway there - using prepaid London Underground Oyster card before realising. I carried on - many colleagues said they would have gone home to get it as soon as they realised. Turns out I couldn’t log into my work laptop without phone verification. So even work are making it impossible not to have these highly distracting things on us all the time! There is no other way to securely get onto our work system than through a phone app
I broke my phone about a year ago. Was unintentionally without a phone for about a week. Loved it. Very liberating. Less stress. Unfortunately, within a week of getting a new phone I was back to (ab)normal with my new phone.

Oof, the Verizon store is as unpleasant as a car dealership or a time share talk. I hope it doesn't take up too much of your weekend.
Verizon store is a Nightmare!!! I can't even tell you the battle I went through when I got my most recent phone. Horrible customer service!!
