Announcing the Revised Edition of How to Break Up With Your Phone

Available February 4th wherever books are sold!

Friends — I write with exciting news:

There is a fully revised and updated edition of How to Break Up With Your Phone coming out on February 4th (next Tuesday!) — and I can’t wait to share it with you.

Like the original book, the new edition of How to Break Up With Your Phone combines an exploration of why our smartphones and apps are so compelling (and what our screen time is doing to us) with a 30-day plan to take back control.

Note: While you can pre-order the paperback today, the new audiobook and ebook will not be available until Feb 4th!

“If you’re a human being and you own a smartphone, you need this book.” —Jonathan Haidt, #1 NYT Bestselling Author of The Anxious Generation

What’s new?

A lot has happened since the first edition was published seven years ago. (When I started working on it, TikTok was barely a thing, and ChatGPT didn’t even exist!)

That’s why the new edition is packed with new resources, revisions to the book’s 30-day plan, and a new section on what to do about kids and phones.

The goal of “breaking up” with your phone isn’t to dump your smartphone completely (unless you want to). It’s to create a healthier relationship that feels good.

Me, with book, and the flu.

If you feel like you’ve been caught in cycles of doomscrolling recently (and who hasn’t?) I hope you’ll check it out and share it with a friend or family member who may need it, too.

Want to go through the book’s plan together (and get a free copy of the book)?

As I mentioned up at the top, I’m running a Phone Breakup Challenge for the month of February as an opportunity for people to go through the steps of the book’s plan together. I’m also offering my paid subscribers access to a private Substack chat where they can chat with me and other readers as we all make our way through the plan.

As an extra bonus, the first 250 paid subscribers to sign up will get a free copy of the book. The deadline has been extended to January 31 — so sign up by Friday, and fill out the form!

Please help spread the word!

Publishing a book (let alone republishing a book) takes a village, and I would be very grateful for your help. Easy ways to do so:

  • Forward this email to friends and family who may want to participate in the February Phone Break Up Challenge with us.

    Share

  • Restack my announcement post from last week to your Substack notes

    • You can use a caption like, “Are you spending too much time doomscrolling? Join me and @CatherinePrice for the February Phone Breakup Challenge, based on the launch of the revised edition of her book, How to Break Up With Your Phone. In the words of NYT #1 bestselling author Jonathan Haidt, “If you’re a human being and you own a smartphone, you need this book.”

      Restack Last Week's Announcement Post

  • Leave a review on Amazon or GoodReads (or wherever else you leave reviews)

  • Talk about the book on social media (you know how I feel about social media, but if you were to post a selfie of yourself with the book inviting your network to do the breakup with you, I would not be upset). I’m @catherinepriceofficial on IG (and on LinkedIn). Here is the book’s official announcement post on IG if you’d like to share it to your stories.

  • If you know anyone who would like to a bulk buy for their community (book club, school, church group, etc), there are great discounts available via Porchlight Books

Thank you, everyone!

To scrolling less, living more, and creating healthier relationships with our phones—

Catherine
